Hi. Sorry for being a bit quiet! I’m having some full bust related delays. I now need to reduce the bust again… I’m still working on the peplum top but have also been discovering some great freebies too!
One of Thimble Minds’ Facebook followers suggested a local scrapstore which I paid a visit to on Saturday (Thanks, Clare!). Wot-Ever Scrapstore in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire is a recycling initiative run by a local charity. Local industries donate materials for crafts and for a yearly membership fee, you can have your pick for free. After only a few visits the fee could pay for itself and you’ll have access to fabrics, craft magazines, sewing patterns, wool and tons more.
After some nosying around downstairs, I found that all the fabric and notions are upstairs. I picked up some heavyweight navy blue cotton which is being used for the peplum top, a metre of lightweight interfacing, navy bias binding and two magazine boxes.to store my sewing mags. All for free! I will definitely be returning.
The second wonderful freebie I’ve discovered is out of print dressmaking books online… for free! Some are a few hundred years old but techniques and fabrics haven’t changed too much and they’re very informative.
The books can be found here on Digital Book Index.
That’s all I’ve found so far. I’ll post again when I eventually get over my issues with the full bust adjustment!
